Name:
Spinosaurus aegyptiacus Tooth
Age: Cretaceous
Formation: Tegana Formation
Location: Taouz, Morocco
Size: Tooth is 2.7 inches long
This is a very unusual dinosaur tooth from the Cretaceous of Morocco. This tooth is from Spinosaurus aegyptiacus, a large meat-eating dinosaur. This conical tooth is well preserved and has wonderful, light-brown corrugated enamel. A sizable portion of the root is still intact. Here is the unusual feature of this tooth - the tip end of this tooth has been worn off by another tooth in the dinosaur's mouth. This happened when the other tooth kept rubbing on this tooth every time the dino opened and closed his mouth. Eventually, the entire tip end of the tooth was worn off. The tooth would be at least another two inches longer if it wasn't worn. Also, there is a smaller wear groove on the side of the tooth that is pictured. This dino had really screwed up teeth - rubbing and wearing against other teeth. This is a very unique tooth from the sail-backed star of ''Jurassic Park III'' - a great conversation piece.
A Certificate of Authenticity from EXTINCTIONS is included with this specimen.
